Joey King and Anthony Thorne have been cast in the independent drama “January Rain,” set to be shot in July in Los Angeles and Utah.
David Venghaus is directing “January Rain” with Steve Snyder and Joel Eisenberg producing and writing the script, based on Thorne’s idea about the impact of Alzheimer’s disease.
The story centers on a writer and wayward son, portrayed by Thorne, who reluctantly returns to his small town to take care of his estranged father, a victim of Alzheimer’s. Complications ensue with his girlfriend and his young sister, to be played by King, who lashes out in response to the circumstances while battling her own demons.
“This film explores a rarely considered aspect of Alzheimer’s — that of early detection and suffering,” Snyder said. “Several on our team have had family pass of the disease, so this is a personal project for all of us.”
King’s credits include “White House Down,” “Oz the Great and Powerful,” the first season of “Fargo” and Roland Emmerich’s upcoming “Independence Day: Resurgence.”
“January Rain” represents Venghaus’ feature directorial debut. He worked as an assistant director on “The Secret Life of Walter Mitty,” “New Years Eve,” “Pirates of the Caribbean: At World’s End” and the upcoming “The Jungle Book.”
Eisenberg is a producer with Bill Duke and Gil Adler on a biopic on boxer Joe Louis with Duke directing.
King is repped by UTA and Dan Spilo at Industry Entertainment.
Hello guys. I just found out that the TV Series “Fargo” is nominated for Golden Globes Awards (Best Television Limited Series or Motion Picture Made for Television). The event will take place on January 10 and I don’t know if Joey will visit the event or not..
